We're Going on Vacation . . .er, Hiatus

Dear Readers:

The original intention of Charis Connection was to band together as a group of published authors and share some of what we've learned about writing, publishing, and the writing life, in hopes that you might find it helpful. With summer arriving with its many activities--including vacations!--we decided this would be a good time to take a break, catch our collective breath, do some future planning and regrouping. So Charis Connection will be on hiatus until after Labor Day.

When we return after that hiatus, it will be with some new features, new approaches, and new insights--but the purpose of Charis Connection will remain the same. Until then, we want to thank you, the readers, for your participation, for your wonderful emails and messages of encouragement and appreciation. We appreciate you--all of you--and we'll let you know when we're back!

*Note: Stay tuned for our regularly-scheduled "Ask the Authors" week next week!

God bless--and have a great summer!

P.S. Any ideas for our future? What would you like to see? Let us know in the comments box!

What? nooooo.....miss my daily Charis? Oh, alright ... I suppose everyone deserves a vacation...er, hiatus.

What would I like to see? I love everything as you have it, with the exception of the Ask the Author weeks. I like AtA, too, but perhaps a week at a time is too much? Or the week's are too often?

This may not be possible, but I would love to see excerpts from whatever you're working on used, when pertinent, to illustrate the writing point being made that day. I'm always intrigued to see "writing in process" (except, apparently, my own since I have not written anything in recent months... :^( )

Talk about a cliffhanger. Charis had gotten me to the point that this is the FIRST site I look at in the morning, and then....this. ;)

Have wonderful rest-of-the-summers. I, for one, will look forward to seeing you in September. You're a great bunch, generous and instructive. Thanks for all you do!

PS--I have to agree with Mike about A&A. For some reason, the blog seems to lose a bit of its "mo" during those weeks--even though I personally still read it first!

Thanks to each of you for making the effort and taking the time to contribute. Your postings are always thoughtful, generally helpful, and universally uplifting. You'll be missed.
I enjoy the "Ask The Authors" feature, but agree that maybe doing it once a week, one question at a time, would be best.
Enjoy your hiatus. When you return, we'll expect an essay on "how I spent my summer vacation." And don't use too many adverbs.

What would I like to see? I'd like you to continue with you've been doing. Articles. Questions. Etc. I've enjoyed hearing your opinions and ways of doing things in The Writing Life.

Thanks, all, for your contributions to our lives. Have a blessed summer!

Every time I visit "Charis Connection," I think: "I need to be visiting here more often!"

Enjoy your hiatus. I hope to come back here and scour the archives for posts I've missed--and I'm sure there are many of them.

This place is a treasure chest of wisdom and insight for those of us who yearn to write.

I like ATA but I agree that once a week would suffice.

Beyond that, your insight have been invaluable. Off the top of my head (and you probably already cover these)... Talk about how the industry has changed since you first published and where you see it going. About particular writing challenges you've faced and how you overcame them. About what your biggest writing challenge is now as a published author.

Enjoy your vacations!

Charis has become part of my "ritual" each day as I prepare to write. So, no Charis for the summer means one less way to procrastinate every morning.

I thoroughly enjoy your insights and commentary--can't think of anything I'd change. Enjoy your hiatus and I'll look forward to "seeing" you again in the fall.

Question: When is the US Labor Day?

Ours isn't until the 22 October - which is rather a long time to wait for CC to return. :-)

No Charis Connection until September 3?

Okay. I understand, but I'm going to miss it.

Happy Hiatus!

We'll all miss you, but y'all deserve a good vacation. And Mike E, I LOVE AKA weeks. Ptttt, so there. ;)

I love it all. I'm the seagull circling over the picnic blanket. The Charis blogers feast on various tidbits and every day they throw a crumb my way. Or a chunk of bread. Sometimes it even feels like a whole sandwich.

Mine. Mine. Mine. ;-) (Reference to FINDING NEMO, for anyone wondering.)

My feeding schedule may be going awry, but I have plenty to digest.
